Hello beauties! It is the beginning of another week and i hope we all start it right.
I am asked a lot of questions about being in an interracial relationship by my close friends which i think is really cute. So i am posting about it because i think there are some couples out there who can relate.
First of all, i love, love, love culture, diversity, race because of its richness and beauty. My parents raised us to love and respect others period. My late father surrounded himself with people from different parts of the world and he opened his home to so many people from all over (Yep, he was that nice).
Couples in love are always so cute to watch. More interestingly I really do think interracial couples are just as beautiful too. I see it as two beautiful minds from different backgrounds and culture defeat all odds and challenges to come together as one just like every other couple in love.
Besides being asked questions about my interracial loves, interracial couples ask each other a lot more questions than most people outside their relationship think.
This was in the conversation between William and i when we had just started dating:
ON FAMILY:
William: Ummm...so what would your parents think of me being white?
Me: My dad is dead.
William: Sorry to hear that. What about your mom?
Me: She likes everybody.
ON FOOD:
Me: (very nervous) I would like to make you one of my favorite traditional meals
William: Sure, what is it?
Me: (still nervous) It is like mashed potato but with yam (yam flour in America & Europe)
Me: (sweating over the stove trying to make it perfect, but not succeeding) Sometimes it might have lumps in them like this, but it is okay. As long as it is cooked.
William: (smiling) That is fine. So what do you call it again?
Me: Pounded Yam, but without pounding it in this case (why didn't i just cook rice or something less complicated?)
William: (nodding happily) Pounded Yam.....i love it.
Me: Really??
He wasn't kidding because he went back to Toronto after that visit to practice how to make it and he makes the best pounded yam ever till today. I can't get him to stop now. What can i say? Bliss. We eloped a few months later.
Please have a tremendous day everyone. Peace.
